Category: Book Series

Description:  Each book a portrait of a Third world town through personal/family
                          stories

Idea:

Book Title header:  “This is Our Life”

Chapters, Title header:  “This is My life”

Each chapter a portrait of a person’s/family’s life through one or multiple real-life stories; each book giving a portrait of the town and community.

Third world countries

Each book in a different country

To have each book must be open and honest

To have the chapters/books to be open to all emotional styles- some sad, some funny, some inspiring, etc.  -  but above all honest.  Let the people & community make the book, not the author.

To refrain from the creation of books venting on “the plight of the Third World”.  If they have stories including hardships then include them, but don’t “dwell” on these stories, unless this is in truth the character of the town; but we always adapt (or die) to our situations and find a way to live- with all the emotions of life.

To use compilers (authors) who are accepted in the communities to facilitate open and honest stories (to get, as near as possible, to the true spirit of the town/community).

Example(s):

Book:  This is Our Life -  Buna, Kenya

Chapter One:  This is My Life -  Azikiwe Family

Future Additions(s):

If the series does well, then expanding to other countries that are more developed.

Also compiling from other towns in the same country, that might be in actuality quite different the original towns.

Confidence:  Unknown

Return on investment would be slow in coming.  Perhaps a collaboration with an organization like National Geographic.
