Category: Internet Business

Description:  Information site similar to IMDB but simpler

Idea:

A simple “site” that lists Commercials, with Actors + their Roles (if possible) in each commercial, and lists Actors with each Commercial, and other media they’ve been in.

Where available, the Commercials listed are linked to the actual commercial (on another site) or the Commercials listed can be viewed directly on the page.

Optional link from actor names to actor’s website, facebook account, etc.

Revenue from advertising- both from on-site ads, and from the advertisers that make the commercials which are linkable or directly viewable.  Site tracks how many unique clicks/views it has for every accessible commercial.

Revenue from actors/actors’ agents per navigating to actor-linked site.

Example(s):

Bob sees a real funny Toyota commercial and wants to see who the actors were who were in it, and if they are in any other commercials/media that they are in it.  Bob goes to site, sees Toyota commercial at site again, navigates to “Other commercials by Actor X” and watches a Colgate Toothpaste commercial.  He then clicks on Actor X’s link to go to the actor’s Facebook page (run by Actor or Actor’s agent).

CEO Jill sees an actor on a random commercial and becomes tentatively interested in employing him/her.  She accesses site and watches other commercials the actor has acted in, and decides she wishes to employ him/her.  She navigates to the actor’s or agent’s site.

Confidence:  Uncertain 9

Low overhead.  High potential revenue.  Relatively low start-up investment (Time/Energy/ Capital) costs.  Just needs the internet traffic to reach a certain level.  Requires a healthy site name.  www.itvdb.com (Internet TeleVision DataBase) has just “Hi : )”, www.advertisementinfo.com is a junk website.

Uncertain because I just came up with this idea, so I haven’t vetted it through sitting on it for a while.  Many ideas can shimmer brightly before they’ve had time to become “realistic”- I may have missed something with this idea that would prove it to be less “pretty” than it seems now.

Additional Comment(s):

This would be a boon to advertisers, agents, and actors.  It would also help make better commercials.
